If you've ever been pulling out your hair trying to figure out how to connect your GPS unit to your Smartphone, then worry no more. There's some detailed steps over on the Windows Mobile Team blog that will help you solve your problems. That post also talks about a cool feature called GPS Control Panel, but don't go looking on your Smartphone for it. Unfortunately, it was left off the Smartphone. Maybe you'll see it in your next phone, as I'm pretty sure we won't be seeing a ROM update from any of the manufacturers with this in it anytime soon. It took them long enough just to get AKU2 released. Wink

Yes, Mapopolis works well on smartphone.

Pocket Streets 2006 also works well on smartphone, but is is really basic. (Just shows current position, no logs or bread crumbs, no routing or directions.) However, set up of GPS was really easy.

After pairing bluetooth and defining COM port in WM5 Comm Manager, just turn on GPS in PS2006 and it finds the COM port automagically.

One more thing, Virtual Earth Mobile does not support GPS on WM5 smartphone, but does support PPC GPS.

There is a new version of Virtual Earth Mobile 1.64 out as of 6/27/2006 that iincludes the following related to GPS: (from Jason Fuller)

GPS improvements. GPS should work much smoother now. I fixed some bugs, and added an options dialog directly in the app so you don't need to deal with any other GPS control panel (which was missing on Smartphone anyway). You will still need to set up a Bluetooth COM port for Bluetooth GPSes, however. I had to pair the two Bluetooth devices and select a new
Outgoing Serial Port for my Bluetooth (OnCourse BT-339).

On my SDA it works with Bluetooth GPS and WiFi. Map loading is quick
and searches work.

I can't get it to work with my T-Mobile Data access. (Which requires a Proxy setting using T-Zones.). Anyone get T-Zones data to update the maps for Virtual Earth Mobile 1.64???? How'd you do it?

Thanks in advance.
