every once in a while I pick up my dash and see an onscreen error saying something like: "unable to execute calnot.exe". a google search doesn't turn up much so I was wondering if anyone around here knew what's causing this (or has a clue to what the error even refers?

Just a guess - calendar note?

Have you installed any third party calendars? It's my guess that some third party app has failed.

I do have agenda one installed but it seems to be working properly. I only get this error sporadically. maybe its an A1 barf that corrects itself. but still annoying!

It could be an appointment reminder that isn't firing correctly

I've seen that too but with other programs. I always suspect a memory problem when things like that happen. Some internal procedure can't start up because of say, a memory leak.

I would start removing applications until it stops. Try and work in reverse order. So the last thing you installed is the first to uninstall. Sounds like a broken app to me.
