"I have been looking forward to this ritual for a while now, and finally a little while ago it happened. The HTC Cavalier (S630) in the flesh unboxed. As many of you know it's a needed upgrade to the ever popular HTC Excalibur (and all incarnations). The processor has been upgraded to a Samsung 400Mhz, flash memory of 128MB, a 2-mega pixel camera, and a slightly updated form factor. The 3G is tri-band, 850/1900/2100 and I have been zipping along Cingular's network without a hitch so far. HSDPA baby!"

Few things are as much fun as opening the box of a new device when it shows up on your doorstep or you get it home from the store. The next best thing is to see pictures of someone else do it. Head on over to witness this unveiling.

"Postponed indefinitely" is the worse news I've had in a couple of weeks. Mike, any ideas what may be going on?

The specs are nice, but why did they make it more boxy? I don't plan on upgrading from my Dash for a while anyways. Great phone, can be a little sluggish at times, but very bearable.

Just curious, what is that was making you wait for the Cavalier over the BlackJack? They seem quite similar to me. I wonder if they are retooling the Cavalier to work on T-Mobile USA's upcoming 3G network and that's the reason for the delay. Could be that Cingular decided there wasn't enough here to differentiate it from the BlackJack, but T-Mobile decided to pick it up as a flagship 3G device for their roll out. Just speculating...

my reasons:
-Cavalier has Wifi where the blackjack does not.
-Cavalier has a lil bigger screen 2.4" insteadof 2.3" on the blackjack.
-Cavalier has a faster processor "400MHz" where the Blackjack has a kinda slow "220MHz" processor. And im used to the fast processor "416MHz" on my i320. Wink

Does the Cavalier support microSDHC? I would love to use one of the new 4 gb Kingmax cards in this.

I heard this news late last week, but my source didn't mention anything about it being indefinitely postponed. From what I was told, it's being held up a short time to allow existing stock of the Excalibur to clear out first. So keep the faith Wink As a side note, my source has been 100% on everything he's told me to date. So I tend to go with what he says.

Erm... This is one of those things that annoys me. I wish Samsung would be more forthcoming with the CPU specs for their devices. For the record, the i320 is NOT 416MHz. If you look up the ARM processor spec and combine it with the OMAP spec, the most you'll get is around 300ish. The BlackJack also does not have it's processor specs listed on any official Samsung document. Having used both phones, the BlackJack is as fast as, if not fast than the i320. The only reason to pick between these two devices is for the quad-band vs tri-band reception.

If you can find a Samsung web page with the actual processor specs, I would love to see it.

I just got my S620 yesterday.

As others say - better in hand than in the photos!!

Great little device, the WiFi is so handy in canada where GPRS charges are a rip off.

If they could make a device like the S620 or S630 but with WM 5 PPC edition it would be killer!!

B.
