"As I promised, I managed to release the first ever Smartphone version of SafeMode - now Smartphone users have the same advanced crash protection system Pocket PC users enjoyed. I know speed is important - it's even more important on the Smartphones, since they are a lot slower than Pocket PCs. That's why I worked on SafeDirect, a feature that allows direct boot in and out of SafeMode. This eliminates the dual soft-resets required to switch between normal and SafeMode. Aside from this, all other standard features are there: disabling Services, Home plugins, Startup applications and Pocket Internet Explorer add-ons."
Figure 1: SafeMode adds this special message to the Smartphone bootup process. Pressing any key during this message triggers the SafeMode based bootup.
Once again a developer has stepped up to fill a gap in the feature set provided by Microsoft in Windows Mobile Smartphones. I am talking about the ability to trigger a "safe mode" based bootup, so that the user can safely remove misbehaving home screen plugins or start-up applications. I think of this software as a must have insurance for my Smartphone. Check out the SafeMode product page for more information. A trial version is available and if you are interested in the useful functionality offered by this tool then you can buy it at the special promotional price of $6.95. Two more photos of this utility running on my Smartphone after the break.
Figure 2: SafeMode replaces the standard bootup logo when SafeMode based bootup option is selected.
Figure 3: When in SafeMode, the home screen is disabled and a special message is displayed. The user can now remove programs or make the necessary changes to correct the problem being experienced.

This should only happen if the date/time was changed back and forth somehow. The trial protection sees this as an an attempt to change the date backwards.
You can purchase the full software from my website, and if it doesn't work as you expect it to, you have full 30 day money back guarantee.

Same thing here. Installed it and it said expired
Oh well, bought it anyways. I've locked up my phone more than once screwing around with it. This should come in handy.

It is a worthy insurance premium.
Nevertheless the trial version must work. Period. I hope that the problem is resolved soon.

I will fix the trial as soon as possible. It seems the registry is not "flushed", if you do an immediate soft reset after SafeMode is installed - and most people do that, to see how it works.
I should have a solution really soon.

This news hit while I was on vacation and I'm pretty excited about it. I'll be downloading a trial version and see how it works on the BlackJack.

Mike,
At the moment it doesn't work on the BlackJack - the beta testers on my forum confirmed that.
The reason it doesn't work (I think) is because the BlackJack initializes its keyboard driver later in the boot process, and SafeMode doesn't sense any key being pressed.
The same happens with the Motorola Q.
I'm still thinking of a solution for this one.

oh... Thanks for the update and saving me from any problems. I hope a solution can be found. In the mean time, I'll install it on my Dash.
