I fell yesterday and cracked the screen of my 2125.

Can anyone give personal recommendations for repair of 2125?

Also and more importantly perhaps can someone with hands-onexperience, compare and contrast between the Cingular 2125 (Faraday) and the Cingular 3125 (Star Trek) phones? I would be VERY helpful right now.

Thanks for all who respond to these needs!!!

No idea. I would suggest you contact Cingular or buy a used one off ebay for parts. Confused Sorry to hear about your phone.

No idea about the repairs.

I have the 3125 and 2125. For me they both are the same. The OS is pretty much the same. So you don't have much of an edge there. The battery life is the same too.

The decision should be based on:
- form factor preference - candy bar vs flip, small keypad vs generous keypad, nice external screen on the 3125
- price
- flatUSB on the 3125 vs regular miniUB on the 2125. If you have accessories for the 2125, it might be cheaper to buy a new 2125. Also the headset on the 3125 use the flatUSB. Twisted Evil
- microSD on the 3125 vs miniSD on the 2125

Personally the 3125 vs 2125 is a matter of taste and how much you willing to shell out to upgrade the accessories to 3125.

I would add the the new ROM for the 2125, if you have it, has been a bit flaky. There have been problems, that I have also had, with text entry. Of the two I prefer the 3125. I have always preferred flip phones though.

If I may add a few questions for ya - Jerry

Since you are using both, you seem to be a good person to ask these questions of, i appreciate the help.
I just got a 2125 thru waranty exchange with the new ROM already in it, which I assume means it has push and ADPD, or whatever the audio is...... Does the 3125 have the same AKU version?? Is it newer than the latest that the 2125 has avail?
one concern with me is usability. The screen is the same size, right?
for use in typing, do you find the 3125 easier, or more difficult. I question the difference in key type.
Also, re: the use of the new flat-usb (or whatever it's called Evil or Very Mad ), do they make an adaptor that is mini usb -> flat-usb for it? i have a usb charger already for the car, so it's not a HUGE deal (it has a female usb plug that i plug in the corresponding cable for either my PDA or my SP) I was just hoping to not have to carry the one cable everywhere i go. i'd rather leave it in one place so it doesn't get lost.
Overall, is there anything else that sticks out for one or the other, or anything in particular that you were surprised with, either good or bad, when you switched to the 3125??
Thanks

Not sure about the AKU version of the 2125 and 3125. But the 3125 does support A2DP (stereo Bluetooth) and push email.

Screen - same size.

Keypad - while the 3125 keys are generous, I think it is a bit harder to press. I find the RAZR style keypad a bit tricky during the initial stages. If you have a big hand, then the 3125 is for you. The 2125 has all the buttons huddled in the bottom portion, might seem crowded to some, especially those with big hands.

The thing that sticks out for me - microSD card and proprietary USB connector.

The flatUSB to miniUSB adapter.

Thanks Kris. Had a long day! I'd like to add that since the ROM upgrade on the 2125 the data entry has become a problem with regards to errors while you try to type. It has made a great phone very frustrating to use. The 3125 is with out a doubt, better.
