http://cellphones.about.com/b/a/120141.htm

"An interesting service was launched today by the Weather Channel, that allows you to get a weather forecast by sending a short message, with your zip code in it, to 4CAST (42278), which will return the prediction by short message too. Pretty simple, easy and wise, but the rate is a bit exagerated. At $0.75 per forecast, let's hope we'll be able to get a refund if the forecast was innacurate! And it may be wiser and just as quick to simply set a bookmark to your city's weather in your wap browser."

75 cents per use? Seems a bit much, but if they're trying to generate income to offset the free feeds that they offer, so be it.

Just for the heck of it, I sent a "Weather [myzipcode]" sms to "googl".

And it replied "Looking for Weather Information? Unfortunately, this feature is not yet supported."

So, it looks like google sms might someday support free weather SMS's Very Happy

Nice! And Google will do it for a much better price. Wink I hope they roll it out up here. Sad

For now I'm just using MSN Alerts, from there I can get my weather info delivered everyday at a specific time....there's also a bunch of other alerts that you can set up. Best part is they are FREE!!! But I am getting hooked on the Google SMS service! So hopefully they will expand it!

I like this. It is pull rather than push but works well unless you live in Canada and is also free. http://www.connectedbits.com/

And I also use this free service: http://mobile.wunderground.com/

Check this $1.99/month push service out also: http://www.accumessenger.com/weathe...egistration.wth

(you would think I lived somewhere the weather changed a lot instead of sunny New Mexico Razz )
