http://www.pdatoday.com/index.php/w...etooth_headset/

"Bluetooth headsets for mobile phones are great. They let you talk and communicate without having to hold the phone to your head or have a wire hanging from your ear. More and more mobile phones are featuring Bluetooth as a standard feature. This is all great for your mobile phone, but what about at your home or office. Wouldn’t it be great if you could have one headset for all your telephone needs?"

This sounds like a good idea but seems a bit clumsy and expensive. I didn't see a price anywhere in the review but looked around and saw this thing retailing for $299! I did see it on one online store for around $200 but still that is quite a lot. On top of that you still need to lift the handset to answer a call! Of course there is a $50 automatic handset lifter you can get to automate this. Stop laughing.

Why? This sounds crazy to me. My Bluetooth headset can answer an incoming call, why can't something like this? Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but it just seems a little short-sighted.

Maybe this would be a cheaper alternative, if you already own a BT headset, or are willing to spend $50 for a new one.

Cool, and it's only $100 - half the price of this thing. Cool Time to talk to the wife....

I have the exact headset system in the picture and use it all the time at work. No more trying to type with the phone on my shoulder. I've been using it for about 6 months. The reason you have to lift the handset is because the base unit is not a part of the phone system, but merely hooked to it via an extra phone cord. I don't see it as being clumsy, but maybe it's because I am use to it. GREAT range. I can go about 50 - 60 feet and still talk with very little static. It also works great with my SMT5600.

In addition they should offer just the base if you already have a Jabra headset like I do. I have a wireless phone at home that doesn't get lifted off of any hook. How the heck would that work? I'd still need the phone with me to answer it. CLUMSY!

Yes, for at home, I agree it would be clumsy. But I am at my desk all day and on the phone most of the time, so it's great for that.
