Safari on Windows Mobile?

"Not quite Safari, as in the web browser that made the Apple iPhone famous, but the new browser from Wake3 is based on the WebKit architecture that Safari is built on. The browser supports Mobile Ajax as well and renders websites as they would on a desktop browser. However, the cool zooming and panning capabilities of Safari on the iPhone aren't ported over it seems. For now, it looks like I might just stick with Opera 8.65, although Wake3 does look to be a promising start. Opera, Firefox, and NetFront all have plans on updating their browsers to support AJAX and some advanced scrolling/zooming/rendering capabilities for mobile devices."

While the demo video for this WebKit based browser is being shown as running on a Pocket PC, Wake3 has stated that it will be released for Windows Mobile and not just Windows Mobile Professional. From the looks of the video, it appears that Wake3's browser is miles ahead of Pocket IE... which really shouldn't be hard to accomplish. This is pretty exciting as Minimo and other mobile browsers really haven't been living up to the hype that was surrounding them (for me at least). Nowadays, I rarely use my phone to browse the Web anymore as the experience is just downright painful. Hopefully Microsoft is taking note of this and realizes that mobile Internet browsing is becoming more and more popular and is not just a neat "feature" to include in the operating system.
