"Oh, things just got seriously geeky for the uber-restrictive IT admins in the audience. Microsoft's being Microsoft (you know, making products its tech staff want to use, ignoring the needs of the end user) in announcing its System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008 today -- the result of years of work generating the perfect dull, restrictive mobile device management system with the most dull, interminable possible name. Basically, Microsoft System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008 (or MSCMDM08 for "short") empowers IT staff to lock down, er, manage and integrate corporate Windows Mobile 6 devices per Windows domain policy..."

I'm sure somebody is happy about this. It might be a good thing if it makes the IT departments feel all warm and fuzzy about having this level of control. This will lead to more sales of Windows Mobile devices and then of course, more toys for me to play with. Just as long as I never have to say "MSCMDM08" or even try to remember what the heck it is!
