I think variety is good. Here we have another electronic wallet style program. Have any of you tried Handy Safe? If so, how does it compare to other similar programs? You can purchase it or download the trial version at our affiliate store.

http://software.smartphonethoughts.com/product.asp?id=6814

"Your smartphone starts keeping you organized on the go. Handy Weather software for Windows Mobile-based Smartphone will keep you connected with updated forecast anytime and anywhere. All you need is Internet connectability to get weather news and forecast for 40 000+ preset cities worldwide and for any arbitrary location by coordinates (latitude and longitude). No more complicated menus to scroll through to find the info you need. Just add Handy Weather to your Home screen and enjoy exact weather forecast. You will wonder how you ever got by without it!"

User submitted image

Even though there are a lot of weather programs to choose from, another one is here for your consideration. The big difference between most of these basic applications is how the data is presented. It is nice to have a few choices so if you are looking for a weather application, have a look at this one.

Handy Restaurant Bill Calculator - Tipper from Two Peaks

Posted by Mike Temporale in "SOFTWARE" @ 04:30 AM

http://www.twopeaks.com/Tipper/

"While paying a restaurant bill, we make a mental decision about what percentage to tip based on quality of service. We then calculate the tip amount, and usually add a small fraction to round up the total to the nearest whole number."

User submitted image

I have found myself fumbling around with the built in calculator more than a couple times, to try and figure out the tax, tip, and ultimately my portion of the bill. Two Peaks latest application, Tipper, looks like a nice solution since it offers a handy feature I haven't seen on any of the other similar applications. Tipper will do a little rounding to make sure you don't have any fractions of a dollar to deal with. Best of all, it's totally free. So head on over to the Two Peaks website and download a copy.

Riverland Screensaver From Handy Entertainment

Posted by Mike Temporale in "SOFTWARE" @ 11:00 AM

http://www.smartphone.net/smartphonethoughts/software_detail.asp?id=1019

"Featuring over 80 fun animations, weather effects and natural sound alerts, Riverland 2 is a next generation of the pioneering real-time screensaver. It is far more advanced than its predecessor. With new castle inhabitants and unexpected plot offshoots the animations got more complex. Natural sound alerts introduced in this version offer a new sure way to follow every event happening on the screen. In other words, Riverland 2 is thoroughly renovated to astonish and please you over and over again."

The idea of a screen savers for mobile devices is lost on me. I would rather conserve the battery power when on the road. Of course, it could play while it's cradled and charging, but I usually do that over night. You can download a trial version, or purchase the application for $4.95 here. Oh, and in case you don't recall, the first generation was "Tribe". [Affiliate]

Handy Entertainment Releases Tribe Screen Saver

Posted by Jerry Raia in "SOFTWARE" @ 09:00 AM

http://www.smartphone.net/smartphonethoughts/software_detail.asp?id=979

"Life of a hideaway tribal village goes all plain to see. A small thatch hutment is pitched in the jungles beneath a dormant volcano. Nor chucklesome aborigines all rapt in hunting and gathering coconuts, neither you can yawn through the seen. After sunset the neigbourhood resounds with a slam bang clatter of tom-toms. Chocolate brown aboriginal women perform a fiery belly dance. Meanwhile, really strange and incredible things are going on around..."

I looked at some of their other screensavers on my Pocket PC and the graphics are pretty incredible. You can download a trial version here. [Affiliate]
