Photoshop.com Going Mobile in September

Posted by Darius Wey in "Pocket PC Software" @ 05:50 AM

http://www.adobe.com/products/pscom/mobile/

"Adobe® Photoshop.com Mobile is the easiest way to upload, view, and share your photos online from your phone. All you need is a supported Windows Mobile phone and your Photoshop.com account ID. Photoshop.com Mobile beta will be available as a free download in September."

Adobe claims that Photoshop.com Mobile will only support the MOTO Q, Blackjack, and Treo 700/750 series, although we're willing to bet most other Windows Mobile devices will handle it just fine as long as Flash is installed. At any rate, we'll let you know the moment it's available.

HTC S710 (Vox) Official Specs and Photos Now Available on the HTC Web Site

Posted by Kris Kumar in "HARDWARE" @ 05:30 AM

http://www.europe.htc.com/products/htcs710.html

"The HTC S710 smartphone is the most compact smartphone with semi auto-sliding full keyboard. It redefines the smartphone with its attractive and sleek design yet its much more than just a phone! The S710 is a multi-functional device and is the first smartphone to use the new Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard platform. The new Windows platform builds on the previous version by enhancing business and enterprise tools, and providing a richer interface for better user experience."

HTC has updated its European Web site with the official specifications and hi-resolution photographs of its upcoming models: HTC S710 (Vox), HTC Advantage and HTC P3350. Not sure if this means that our European friends would get to play with this phone first? :? The HTC press photo library has been updated as well, check out the hi-resolution photos of their upcoming models. By now we know most of the specifications by heart but I noticed something that I hadn't noticed up until now, that the S710 will sport USB 2.0. I love the S710 form-factor and its feature set. The only complaint anyone would have against this device is the lack of 3G support.

Toshiba Slider G500 Preview and Photos

Posted by Kris Kumar in "ARTICLE" @ 09:30 PM

http://mobileburn.com/review.jsp?Id=3161&source=HOME

"Along with its new G900 Windows Mobile 6 device, Toshiba also announced the new G500 Windows Mobile 5 smartphone from 3GSM in Barcelona this week. This attractive 3G handset has solid features to match its solid feel, with connectivity options to please business users. Tri-band GSM and HSDPA connectivity are mated with Bluetooth and 802.11b/g WiFi, making Microsoft's Direct Push email solution quick and easy. Up to 10 days standby and 3 hours UMTS talk time will keep you going strong, and a 2.0 megapixel camera makes the G500 great for the weekends as well as for the office. The large 2.3" QVGA resolution TFT display makes usage simple, and fingerprint recognition keeps your data secure. The Toshiba G500 includes 64MB of on board memory, with miniSD memory expansion. From our hands-on with the device at 3GSM, we can tell you that the Toshiba G500 is a solid feeling handset, though the odd hinging of the soft keys makes them a little difficult to use."

MobileBurn.com has posted a preview, along with some nice photos, of the Toshiba slider Smartphone announced at the recent 3GSM. It looks like the official name for this Smartphone is G500. As stated earlier in the FCC post, it is running Windows Mobile 5 and is a 3G Tri-band GSM unit. Wish the specs were as good as the awesome styling. :-(

It's time for some more pictures of hot up and coming hardware. This device is set to be the next Windows Mobile device coming to market from O2. The Graphite is a typical candy bar style phone without a QWERTY keyboard. (Yes, they do still make Smartphones without keyboards. ;) ) The Graphite will sport a 416MHz processor, WiFi, 128/64 ROM/RAM and a 2 megapixel camera. User submitted imageClick on the above image to view it in it's original glory. Also, there are 3 more pictures posted below. Be sure to click through to view them all. Scheduled and Remotely Controlled Photos with PocketCamera

Posted by Mike Temporale in "SOFTWARE" @ 02:00 PM

http://www.smartphone.net/smartphonethoughts/software_detail.asp?id=2528

"PocketCamera is a small but smart application for the SPV C600 smartphone. In one moment it can turn your phone into an internet camera, spy camera or simply a camera with time releaser. Thanks to PocketCamera take photos in cycles defined by time intervals or on request by sending any SMS with triggering command. The captured pictures (size and resolution can be fully configured) can be saved or send to a selected e-mail address. In the second case, remember about proper setting the selected e-mail account so that the phone could establish connection with the post server to send the e-mail. Potential use of the application is remote surveillance and supervision of people and places."

User submitted image

I've seen Pocket PC programs that are similar to this, but I don't think I've seen a Smartphone version before. They list the SPV C600 as a supported device, but I don't see why it wouldn't work with other Windows Mobile HTC based Smartphones. I like the idea of being able to snap pictures automatically. I'm thinking about installing the demo and setting it to take pictures every 30 seconds and then strapping it to the handle bars of by bicycle before my next ride. :D You can download the demo version or purchase a copy for $9.95 from our Affiliate store.

More HTC Breeze Photos Surface

Posted by Rocco Augusto in "NEWS" @ 06:00 AM

http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/HTC-Breeze-Windows-Smartphone-Picture-Gallery-article-a_1335.html

PhoneArena.com has some very impressive images online featuring the HTC Breeze. While we have all seen photos of this device in the past, these photos are probably the best that have surfaced so far. For those that are unaware, the Breeze is going to be HTC's first UMTS 3G Windows Mobile Smartphone. Once this phone is released Smartphone users will finally get to experience the joys of video calling, something Pocket PC users have experienced for a while now :)

User submitted image

Hopefully by the time this device is released HTC will do something about the phone's appearance. Once HTC created the Star Trek they were officially no longer allowed to create an ugly phone ;). Also, this device now uses microSD

WpN Mobile is Now Available - Daily Photo News Stories and Share Photos

Posted by Kris Kumar in "THOUGHT" @ 04:30 PM

http://www.wpnmobile.com/about.aspx

"Ever wanted to get daily photo news stories and interesting feature stories delivered to your mobile device? Ever wanted to share photos with your friends and family without paying huge MMS charges? Share device to device without having to go through a web-site? Well now you can, by using a new Windows Mobile application called WpN Mobile, created by photo agency World Picture Network. WpN Mobile allows you download feature stories from around the world ranging in topics from Daily News to Robot Warfare in Iraq to New York Gangs to Bare Knuckle Boxing. Features are packaged into different channels based on topic i.e. Sports, Sci-Tech, and Entertainment etc."

User submitted image

WorldPictureNetwork is announcing the public Beta release of its Windows Mobile based photo news story reader. Our readers might remember that I had made an announcement a while back about this software. As a beta tester, I enjoyed testing this application which is a lot like an RSS reader but with a twist; instead of standard text based news, WpN Mobile uses photographs to convey the story. I enjoy the quality of the photographs offered by WorldPictureNetwork. Now in the form of this public Beta release, this application is ready for a bigger audience and it offers more than just the daily news and feature stories. It also allows you to share photographs with your family and friends. And did I mention that you can catch up on Smartphone Thoughts news using WpN Mobile? 8) Can you spot Jasons "Come On, Charge Faster!" post in the above photo animation?

(you'll have to excuse the image Smartphone Thoughts readers)

Having my photos everywhere, on every device, is something that greatly appeals to me. I've managed to achieve that for my desktop PCs, laptop PCs, and Xbox (as an extender) by using Foldershare but the mobile devices have always been left out of the equation. This looks like it might be a solution to that problem, and have some interesting features (photo backup) as a side-effect. It's currently in a closed beta, but should be debuting to the public soon. Anyone in on the beta and can talk about it?

More i-mate Smartflip Treats, Stacks of Photos and Videos

Posted by Kris Kumar in "HARDWARE" @ 09:05 AM

http://www.coolsmartphone.com/news2177.html

"I'm not sure if I've mentioned it yet, but we love the look of the HTC Star Trek / i-Mate Smartflip. Seriously - it comes to something when the most bulbous thing on it is the Mini USB port! Oooo that is thin. There's even a second screen on the front which appears to be full colour. Damn.. Dale gets all the food stuff ;) We've already seen vids courtesy of NewMobile, but these pics are really worth looking at."

Statutory Warning: The photos and videos you are about to witness may cause uncontrollable drooling, we at Smartphone Thoughts must not be held responsible for the consequences. We should thank NewMobile and CoolSmartPhone.com for bringing this awesome photo and video shoot. You can check out the thumbnails of the i-mate Smartflip photo-shoot over here. The videos can be viewed over here.
I have added a few photos from the collection over here:

Photos of the HTC Universal, Wizard, Galaxy and Tornado

Posted by Jerry Raia in "HARDWARE" @ 12:00 PM

http://www.mobigeeks.net/stories.php?story=05/09/11/0373314

"You want to see them, compare them, appreciate them with their right value. Here in details at the time of a photo session. First of all, a photograph of family in order to compare the various types of keyboard. There is for all the tastes, the keyboard thumbnail of the HP hw6515 to the compact keyboards of the HTC. Mme if the HTC Universal is most comfortable grace or because of its generous dimensions, the HTC Wizard is left there rather well in spite of its small size."

User submitted image

The above is translated from French but if you want to see a nice set of photos comparing these models go take a look. Here is the full translation in case you don't read French very well. :)

T-Mobile USA Sharing Photos with Sprint, Cingular

Posted by Jerry Raia in "NEWS" @ 12:00 PM

http://www.mobiletracker.net/archives/2005/07/07/t-mobile-mms

"T-Mobile USA announced this morning that it has reached an agreement with two other major national US carriers for the exchange of MMS messages (the technology used to share photos taken by camera phones). MMS has not seen the success of SMS mostly because it is difficult to send a message across carriers."

User submitted image

Speaking of T-Mobile here is a welcome change. I had responded in a thread that what carrier you have is important with regard to sending and receiving MMS. Looks like T-Mobile has joined the party.

Fixing Photos Taken On Camera Phones

Posted by Kris Kumar in "ARTICLE" @ 02:00 PM

http://www.adobe.com/tips/phsel3fixlowrezw/main.html

"Camera-enabled wireless phones are a great way to capture memories on the fly. Unfortunately, because most phones have low-resolution cameras, the photos sometimes turn out grainy or have lighting problems. Another common problem is noise, which you see as stray colored pixels in an area of solid color, for instance, bright blue pixels on a persons forehead. The new Reduce Noise filter in Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 reduces graininess and smooths away noisy areas without making the photo blurry."

User submitted image

Adobe offers helpful tutorials and tips that can sharpen your digital imaging skills. One such tutorial is aimed at the much needed topic - Fixing photos taken on camera phones. Though this tutorial uses Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0, I thought that this post can be the starting point for all tips related to camera phone image enhancements. So if you have any cool tips please post it in this thread. :)

Motorola MPx200 Photos

Posted by Robert Levy in "HARDWARE" @ 12:34 AM

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/information/presscenter/imagegallery/smartphone/mpx200.mspx

User submitted imageMicrosoft has made some great photos of the new Motorola phone available in their press center. There are two photos showing AT&T- and Orange-branded versions of the device. There are also two photos of an unbranded version.

Here's the most interesting part: one of the unbranded photos clearly shows the MPx200 running Smartphone 2003.

While we can't tell if this is the result of some mistaken Photoshop magic or if this is a sign that Motorola is already working on a Smartphone 2003 update, this is a big day so let's be optimistic. 8)

First Orange SPV2 Photos

Posted by Robert Levy in "NEWS" @ 10:12 AM

http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=89751&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Over at MoDaCo, someone has posted photos of the SPV2 (also known as the HTC Voyager). Overall it looks much like the Tanager but with an added camera and improved directional pad. This device will also have integrated Bluetooth and comes with Smartphone 2003. No word yet on the processor or memory, but this is definitely a big step forward for the Smartphone platform. Wohoo! Check out the MoDaCo thread for more. (Note that MoDaCo requires you to be logged in to see the photos)
