"Headphones are one of the most important parts of any music listening experience – together with the audio player itself and the quality of the encoded music – but most digital audio players come with extremely cheap headphones. Perhaps it’s because the manufacturers know the first thing many people do is discard included headphones, and thus they don’t want to invest any significant money in the bundled headphones. Or, perhaps it’s because quality headphones cost money (which would raise the cost of the overall product), and a good portion of the public doesn’t know how good music can really sound with great headphones."
Our own Jason Dunn has done a nice review Ultimate Ears super.fi headphones over at the Two Inch View. Aren't they really earphones though? When I think of headphones I picture those big clunky things like the ones Koss made. Remember those? One of the first things I did when I got my iPod was to get a new set of earphones and they do indeed make a big difference. If you are in the market for such an item give this a read.

The two terms have become very interchangable.
Anyway, I'm a big fan of these - the sounds is pretty increbile for such a small thing. I just wish that device manufacturers would go the standard 2.5 or 3.5mm jack so we could enjoy these with any portable device.

These are very similar to design/style of the Sony Ericsson sets provided with their Walkman phones.

Someone else mentioned that - I'd be very surprised if Sony Ericsson would bundle something as good as these, but I suppose anything is possible. I'll ask Ultimate Ears.

Wait a second, are these the headphones you're talking about?
Nah, not Ultimate Ears. I suspect nowhere close in terms of quality...

Yes, those. I have a set that came with my SE w810i. They are very good...maybe not in the same league with your reviewed pair however. I was mainly referring to the similar appearance.

Jason,
You mentioned in your review:
Quote: |
There’s an optional winding spool for the carrying case that’s sold seperately, |
Where?
After reading your review the other day, I went to look but could not find any, at least at the super.fi accessory page .
I do remember seeing a picture of the spooling case at some point (probably in another review) and a spooling case was one of the reasons I decided to purchase my super.fi 5 pro headphones.
I have a lot of headphones for different purposes and convenient transport and storage is important to me, though you wouldn't think I gave a hoot about storage if you see my desk at work

Turns out it's been discontinued (I asked my contact at Ultimate Ears) and is no longer offered - my bad, I saw a photo and assumed it was still available.
