Here's an application I had long given hope of seeing on the Smartphone platform - Universal Remote. However Vito made it happen. I used one of these remote control programs on my iPAQ years ago, and it wasn't anything to write home about. I would be interested in seeing how it works on my Smartphone, but I don't have an IR port on my device. There aren't many devices that include an IR port, are there?

Vito has just released a new freeware application - CopyPaste. As you might guess, it allows you to copy and paste information on your Smartphone. This is one of those features that everyone has been asking for and can't believe that it's not a standard part of the OS. Well, you don't have to run out and buy a third party solution any longer. Vito's CopyPaste program is free for everyone to enjoy.

A word of advice for those going to try this out. There is no installer for Vito CopyPaste. Instead, just copy the EXE to your phone (\Storage Card\Program Files\Vito\CopyPaste\VitoCopyPaste.exe) and then using your phones file explorer, create a shortcut in the Start Menu. (\Windows\Start Menu\Accessories) Then you can create a speed dial entry for it. :D

"If sometime you get tired of switching different modes or choosing from endless list of options and simply want to listen to the music - VITO AudioPlayer is the right choice. This easy-to-use application runs swiftly and has the basic playback features."

This looks like a nice alternative player. What got my attention is that it supports .ogg file playback. There is a 14 day trial so you can give it a test drive.

VITO AudioNotes for Windows Mobile Smartphones

Posted by Jerry Raia in "SOFTWARE" @ 03:00 PM

http://www.geek.com/news/geeknews/2006Jan/bpd20060228035009.htm

"VITO Technology develops some useful utilities for mobile devices, and its latest product allows you to turn your Windows Mobile Smartphone into a digital voice recorder. VITO AudioNotes is now available for WM Smartphone and Pocket PC devices. The application records notes and phone calls in MP3 and WAV formats and allows you to store them on a storage card or in main memory."

One of the features I use often on my phone is voice notes. VITO looks like it has expanded on the rudimentary version that comes on a Smartphone. You can check it out here. Voice notes are great when you are in the car. Instead of struggling to write or type while going 85 MPH you can just make a voice note. This frees you up to play with your GPS and CD player and eat while you go 85 MPH. :lol:

Vito posted this announcement in our forums last week and I felt that enough of you would be interested in this application, so I'm posting it here too. ;)

Vito TaskSwitcher features: easy control from the joystick and assigned buttons, an auto-select function will switch to the selected application if nothing happens for 5 seconds, and the ability to close active or close all applications. It also supports skins so you can customize the look of the application. It's available from the Vito website for $4.95. Unfortunately, I don't see a trial version. :(

If your Smartphone doesn't have a voice dialer, or you want something a little more robust, then you should check out VITO's VoiceDialer. The improved audible recognition in unfavourable conditions and QVGA support could make this a real winner as we move forward to Windows Mobile 5 devices. :)

BostonPocketPC.com Reviews VITO Voice Dialer for Windows Mobile Smartphone

Posted by Mike Temporale in "ARTICLE" @ 10:00 AM

http://www.bostonpocketpc.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0

"I continue to find the lack of a built-in voice dialing solution for the Windows Smartphone OS to be a serious limitation of the platform. While I understand that "handsfree dialing" is a virtual impossibility for the OS without device manufacturer integration (it is a combination of software and hardware that makes handsfree operation possible), the fact that voice dialing without handsfree is only available via third-party applications simply astounds me. One third-party application that fills the voice dialing gap is VITO Technology's Voice Dialer for Windows Mobile Smartphone. I decided to give this application a try and see how it stands up to various scenarios. If you are looking for a voice dialing solution for your Windows Mobile Smartphone"

Another good review from BostonPocketPC.com. You might want to check this out if you've been looking for voice dialing software.

Main features:
  • precise and accurate voice recognition;
  • Unlimited number of learned commands;
  • Silence gaps cutting system in learning mode;
  • Uses phone numbers from Contacts database;
  • Supports Bluetooth-enabled headsets;
  • Intuitively clearlearning settings;
  • User friendly interface.
Cool! I'm a big fan of Fonix's voice dialing app, but it's great to see competition in that market. The faces on that cat in the screenshot are making it pretty hard to resist giving this a shot. ;)
